Effect of organoclay and corn straw on the properties of poly (butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) hybrid composites

The packaging industry requires permeable materials capable of offering freshness the content. use fillers can enhance these properties to polymeric material. This work investigates effect incorporating different (organophilic clay and corn straw) on rheological, mechanical, permeability, water absorption biodegradability characteristics poly (butylene adipate co-terephthalate) (PBAT) processed in an internal laboratory mixer. Extruded films specimens injection molded were produced. results torque rheometry suggest polymer matrix degradation during processing slightly increase, also evidenced by MFR results. Composite showed a drop tensile strength, higher stiffness lower elongation. Incorporation PBAT enhanced permeability oxygen gas produced films. presence significantly increased capacity absorption. incorporation C20A and, mainly, CS tends accelerate biodegradation PBAT. Adding small amounts organoclay leads material that combines maintenance or improvement combined with oxygen, which indicates potential systems for
